Reinvention

Reinvention has been ..like that elusive lover
whom i want to touch and befriend
but all i do is hide for cover
not letting the illusion end

.

Is reinvention a dream?
or something tangible?
..is the thought i have

Is selfloving reinvention possible?
Am i worthy of more?
..is the thought i have

What reinvention story are you impressed with, dear reader?
When i think of a reinvention  story
Most visible to me is that of Swiper the fox
Who?
Yes..
A cartoon character
at Dora the Explorer

Why the fox?

He started out as a meany .
He would swipe Dora’s stuff away!
And either Dora had to search for it
or run him off by saying
‘ swiper , no swiping’
But now we are seeing a change!
He is developing conscience!

In Dora and three little pigs

He realizes that he should not have swipedstuff from story book village and.. returns them!!!

In Dora Saves the Mermaid:

He understands when Dora explains why not to swipe the crownHe even helps by swiping garbage off a whales’ eyes

People can spend a life in prison and still never develop a conscience… here a cartoon character has found the way.  Kudos to the Dora creators for thinking of doing this.  Its very inspiring.

Shraddha, I like your Dora cartoon example. Most of the time when I use that phrase it is similar with reinventing the wheel. Just a whole bunch of wasted time on something that has already been in very fine fashion.
I suppose if we could reinvent it better the second (or later) time that would be a blessing for mankind.
On a personal level, reinventing a love life could be a rewarding experience even if we have done it before. We could do it differently this time. For a broken or bad romance, don’t we sometimes wish we could do it over again? Other times, just thank goodness it’s over! It would be like playing a chess game, most games from advanced players are different from the one before. :-)

Reinvention of ourselves is a wonderful thing. So natural. Whether we continue in a relationship or start anew, we grow and change over the years.

Hon, don’t worry about your politics. Sorry I’m so political on my blog. It has been a particularly hard week, what with violence starting at the town hall meetings. Lots to blog about. I love all of my fellow Americans. And I defend all of our right to free speech. (((hugs)))

My dd used to love Dora the Explorer. Such a small cartoon brimming with such wisdom. Your post is beautiful :-) I for one believe reinvention keeps our spirit fresh; I’m forever changing!

Hmm. Cartoons and inspiration. Been a while since I came across that :D
These days we get so much of BenTen and Power rangers, that I used to think they were only about mindless antics!

“Reinvention has been ..like that elusive lover
whom i want to touch and befriend
but all i do is hide for cover
not letting the illusion end” I loved it.

I hadn’t thought about Swiper like that, never crossed my mind. Funny how sometimes we find inspiration in the things many of us overlook. =)

I love Carolina Pad. I hope this is where to enter to win.

  7. 7

I haven’t seen Dora in a couple years. I’m glad Swiper is growing :) . Hopefully I am too ( other than on the scale that is)!

  8. 8

I’m not sure if my comment went through the first time!
Anyway, what I wanted to say was that reinvention of ourselves is a wonderful thing and I love that you used Dora as an example.

  9. 9

Reinvention is always a good thing – as long as we take the lessons with us from the last one.
    Enjoyed this post.

That was very beautifully explained shradha :)
I never realised how important the name of your blog url was..
something i always believe in :)
Love thy self before you love someone else :D

I think we are always reinventing ourselves, hopefully for the better. I like your reference to Swiper the Fox! :) I’m trying to be a better parent everyday. I’m conscious of the mistakes that I make and continue to work hard to do better the next time around.

Reinvention, for me, is a very strong word… it is the singularly valid process that makes us go on.. The illusion, as you so succinctly stated, of lingering with the present, tried and tested procedures, could actually lead to stagnation and ultimately, a lopsided zeal…
Your cartoon example was awesome… Illustrating the point so well!

  13. 13

Oh these thoughts of reinvention are oh so close to my heart at this point in time… I am lucky indeed to be visiting here to get me thinking and reflecting once more. Your words seem to always have a way of doing that…and they always strike so very true! 8)
I’m not sure what story of reinvention impresses me the most…but you’ve certainly got me thinking about it. Swiper the fox seems like a wonderful example.

    Hi Shraddha,

What a wonderful, inspiring post. So thought provoking. I am definitely trying to reinvent who I am. I am definitely not who I used to be. That person was taken away when I became so very ill. It didn’t actually change the person I am way down deep, I don’t think, but who I am as a whole. Now, I am having to redefine who I am as a person with a disability. It is very hard and frustrating and sometimes I just want to quit! But, I have to keep on keeping on.

Thanks for your wonderful words! That always serve as encouragement.

    Have a wonderful Monday!

    Interesting post

  17. 17

Sometime we require it and sometime we try to avoid it. Its situational for me….
    nice post…

  18. 18

Shraddha, you continue to surprise me and make me think in unexpected dimensions. I love how you take a concept outside of the box. The result is a fresh perspective, one that really challenges old assumptions.

  19. 19

    Hi shraddha,
I am sure we are all constantly reinventing ourselves. After all isn’t that what growth and maturity is? change, they say is the only constant in life.

  20. 20

Great post! Thanks so much for stopping by. Glad you are enjoying my marital secrets!

  21. 21

Good morning. Reinvention – how thought provoking. It has been my major pursuit for the past year. I’m preparing for retirement in another year and all of my energy is focused on life as I know it changing. Can’t wait. The adventure of a lifetime, finding the final me.

yet another nice and interesting post, Shraddha…

we are always in the process of reinventing ourselves, aren’t we? whether we learn something from the process and take it forward or not is left to the individual, but the reinvention process itself is part of what growing up is all about, no?…

again, good post…also, i didn’t know the Dora / fox story…thanks for posting!!!

  23. 23

I “reinvented” myself at the age of 40, taking on a second career as a high school teacher. It’s a sort of “reincarnation,” with a whole new stream of karma. The best decision I ever made!

  24. 24

    It is thought provoking, reinvention.

Though, I don’t think that I want to reinvent myself, but more take myself out of the box. I like who I am, but think I could do with some more outside of my house experiences…lol

Sorry I haven’t stopped by, I’ll try to stop by more often!!

  25. 25

I reinvented myself when I became a Sikh. But I’m certainly not the first to do so. There was one a thief named Bidi Chand who totally changed his way of life when he entered his Guru’s service. He set aside his life of crime, but put his skills into doing recovery of items stolen from his guru. Dora is showing that it is possible to change if not the deed at least the intent and out come of how it is used.

  26. 26

    I never watched Dora…

  27. 27

I didn’t know they reinvented Swiper. Too cute!

    Hello…

thanks for stopping by today. i hope you had a nice Monday…

  29. 29

I have never seen the Dora show but I like what you’ve said here about one of the characters developing a conscience. That’s a good lesson for kids. They need to trust that little voice inside that tells them something isn’t right.

  30. 30

Great post! :) When I let my son watch a little TV (mama’s babysitter while cooking)… I am amazed at some of the lessons they teach kids. I like shows that teach kids good manners and good morals. :)

Shraddha, I came too soon for commenting on your OSI. I couldn’t sleep so I got up and have been blogging for a bit. Now I think I can read myself back to sleep. I will do that.
I like your Ocean poem, it is thought provoking and remorseful. The waves and the joy are still there, just your bod isn’t. It might can go back now if not in time? :-)

  32. 32

An interesting take on reinvention. I have never seen this Dora cartoon……so I’m not familiar with your character Swiper the Fox…….but your use of this character is well put.

    Have a beautiful day.

  33. 33

i guess this is my first time here! right now i am feeling too lazy to read the post and drop the comments for it ( so if you dont mind and excuse me for the first and last time ) :P

Hey!!! You have a wonderful post :) and the verses are so beautiful especially the solitude one!!!

    Keep writing!

  35. 35

I grew up in foster care and have many trials over the years. But here I am almost 41 and in college and making a life I can be proud to share with my children.

My favorite saying is “It is never to late to be what you might have been.” :)

  36. 36

Lovely poems and thoughts! I really wonder if I can reinvent myself–I’ve been trying for 63 years and haven’t succeeded yet.

  37. 37

I think it is great that they reinvented Swiper. I never liked his character before but now I think I will. Great post!

I think it is neat how you used Dora the Explorer and Swiper as part of the reinvention process. I like the way it helps children (and adults) see that reinvention is always possible.
    Hugs,
    Pam

  39. 39

I suppose reinvention is a choice as well as an accident of circumstance. What a thought-provoking post. Thanks.

I’m still new to some of this bloggy stuff and I am having a hard time with the trackback link. It keeps sending me back here. Anyway, I posted a link to your post on my post here: http://beatniksbeatonlife.blogspot.com/2009/08/heavy.html

  41. 41

My daughter Sophia just said tonight that Swiper was not as bad in the movies and that he liked to help! Great example. He is not all bad at all – he thinks what he is doing is silly and when he understands that it hurts people he starts to change. Reinvention is a wonderful thing!

  42. 42

I’d like to hope that reinvention is possible. I am a very restless person and would like to think that it is possible to keep reinventing one’s self – I think it’s how Madonna, the queen of reinvention is able to stay relevant a lot longer than many other performers of today. How’s that for my deep thinking ;-)

P.S. I wanted to thank you for your kind words on my blog :-)

  43. 43

I love that you used the Dora Cartoon! I have never really thought about it like that. It is great that the creators of Dora are changing Swiper’s character for the better! Kids really do learn from these cartoons. Thanks for sharing. :)

  44. 44

Yes, I think reinvention is possible!

  45. 45

Thanks for swinging by my blog again. I love to see your comments. <3

I loved Dora when i was younger.

    Reinvention….hmm….such an alluring topic

  47. 47

That was very very cute! :) Loved the underlying strong theme behind a simple story.

Well, I racked my brain for a reinvention story. Right now, only Harry Potter books come to my mind ! (I just finished them).

In someway I feel everyone keeps reinventing themselves at every stage of life. For the good & for the bad. Its bad when we stagnate. One should push oneself to the limits. One life after all :)

    cheers!

  48. 48

I know I already responded to this, but I want you to know I’ve photo tagged you on by blog! :)
