Imagine for a moment a beautiful sunny day… warm but not too warm. The sky a cerulean shade of blue, the sun bright and merry… and about 100 college kids bodily throwing themselves on a Slip-N-Slide about 25 feet across and 50 ft long. Imagine bubbles floating through the air as emerald colored dish soap is gleefully squirted upon half-clad bodies streaking across the plastic.
I didn’t have my camera today when we decided to take our son to the park, but these photos from Flickr gives you an idea (keep in mind these are WAY smaller than the Slip-N-Slide we saw):

Oh, and did I mention the beer kegs and the bright red plastic cups everywhere? I have no idea what the occasion was, but as my small family sat eating our chicken strips and drinking tea, we had the best Labor Day entertainment ever. I do know it was related to work because I heard a muffled “All employees of ……. please get down here for our raffle…”
And in case you were wondering: it IS possible to drink beer and slam into plastic at the same time. Plus, you get a nice beer shampoo. Also… it IS possible to wrestle and play “dog pile” while slip-n-sliding. Lastly, if you wondered if a pool floaty helped propel you faster… it does. 
And the muscle bound frat boys (sorry, perhaps they really were employees…) weren’t so hard on the eyes either. All in all, this experience taught me that, yes, it really is possible to be at the right place at the right time.

one of my friends has a giant slip n slide party every summer – INSANE! and SO MUCH FUN! 3 or 4 adults wide they use 8 hoses to keep it wet… and a crash pad at the bottom!

Oh, I would have sat there for hours watching the fun! They were drinking WHILE sliding? College has improved since I went.
that is hilarious, and seemingly harmless. i guess you never outgrow slip and slides. and beer is good for the hair, this we know from the 1970s and wella balsam shampoo.

Oh, it was all in good fun… no nudity or anything. He was pretty fascinated, but then the merry-go-round caught his eye. And we spent WAY too much time on that!

I love it! We used to have a beach party every year in college and it rocked. Of course, there were always some injuries as the day wore on but I think in college that is sometimes par for the course. We did not always make the best decisions! What great memories. Thanks!

what fun, this past weekend it rained on labor day and my son didn’t care he played inside w/ my nephew and had so much fun as adult we let things like rain effect us we need to be more like kids

We did water slides at a camp I used to counsel for–on hills with running water–It was so much fun I put it in my kids novel, Frog Haven.
