Monochrome Weekly: We got snowed in!

*This post is about us getting snowed in October with photo of snow in our backyard!I also enlist activities that we will be doing with our twins housebound in winters*

The first photo in monochrome is of our backyard when we got snowed in!
The picture is of our backyard, taken couple of days ago when we got snowed in!

Let me tell you that snow can be incerdibly romantic but it can be lot of trouble too.
My daughter’s were born 7 weeks early than their due date.
One of them got CPAP treatment for few days when she was born ,as her lungs were not mature enough due to the preterm birth.
Somehow a simple cough can be a huge problem for her.
Last week we were all sick.
My one daughter escaped with just Motrin and rest, but this one developed ear infection and was on Antibiotics and even had to take nebulization couple of times.
I know it is nothing major but that scares us off from too many activities outside.
In summer we got to zoo or children’s museum or boingz boingz or some other fun activities relgiously each weekend but to do that in winters is a risk.
With my daughter being so sick last week, we really had to brave it out to take them for Halloween Party yesterday.
Some new home activities i have added for them in recent weeks are:

1. Mini trampolines: both have got individual ones and we are blessed with a huge house so we set it up for them in the family room.

2. Fisher Price Handy Manny Repair Shop.

Ok this is no paid review or anything but let me tell you this is one very fun activity you can do with your child. This toy has helped me entice my husband to play (yes actually play) with my girls.
Also i was kinda tired of all the girly girly stuff my girls are into and wanted to give them something more balanced.

3.Have i already mentioned the best nursery rhyme book i have ever seen? I found it this summer and we can not live with out it in our household.

book

It has 170 rhymes for kids.Yes! every possible rhyme.Quality and pictures are the best.Again! this is not a paid review folks.I actually love it!
The pictures are very well coordinated with the poems and my girls love it!
This book is going to help us a lot in long winter months.

4.All other activities my girls already do will continue like painting, coloring, cutting( they love cutting with scissors).

Can you please give some more ideas?
Would love to hear your input!

This is my first time participating at Monochrome Weekly Theme .I submitted first photo for the same.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. I can’t believe so many people are getting snow already this year. And it’s not even winter. I do hope that everyone is on the mend!
Wishing you a picture perfect day!
    Patty

When my boys were little we would do finger painting with pudding. That way they could lick it off their fingers when they were done painting. They loved it! We also made homemade playdough on a regular basis. You can add koolaid for scent and color. We would bake their favorite creations so that they could keep them as treasures.

  3. Mohan says:

Take care of your daughters and enjoy the season of snow… Very nice pic in black and white!

  4. Oh my all the snow! That is crazy! I so hope your kids start feeling better soon! We have dance parties and gymnastics parties and tea parties and play school and stuff indoors at my place. Always a hoot!

  5. Wow snowed in already. The weather here is still quite warm. My granddaughter is not quite 7 months and my daughter really doesn’t like taking her out in pubic becasue of the flu scare.
Do your girls like play dough and modeling clay? We bough a mini potters wheel once from Sears when the kids were small. My daughter grew up with a love for ceramics and has taken several classes. a neighbor is giving her a kiln and she’s quite excited. I always enjoyed it but did not do much with it, but enough to spark her interest apparently.

the back yard pic is tooooooooo goood !!!!!!

Trampouline… its a wonderful thing… we never had it in our younger days.. these days a few malls have it but only for the kids … they dont allow us in… !! :(

  7. hitchwriter says:

    ideas ?? board games ? story books ? dancing… ?? hide n seek in the house…

p.s. me and my bros used to play cricket in the house too.. but considering the things we broke.. you dont want ur girls to be reading this… :P

  8. Indy says:

I was going to suggest Monopoly till I saw in Pt.3(best nursery bk) that they must be very little! Hmmm, now what? maybe junior pictionary? A doll/play house? Some lego? I hope you’re having fun with them too!!!

  9. lostworld says:

Oh no I feel so bad.. I didn’t realize you’re back from your break !!

But then, I have a whole lot of your posts to catch up on.. which is fun!

Lovely choice of games + activities. I especially love the repairman’s kit. I wanna join your daughters too & play.

    Take care. Superb photo btw.

Welcome to the club! Snow makes for fine monochrome picture (but I’m glad we haven’t got any – yet)

  11. SandyCarlson says:

That snow is lovely, though I can relate to the dread of the cold season. Every sniffle sets me on edge! Keep on bouncin’!

  12. maxine says:

Playdough is always well received in our house…flour, water, salt. Cheap!

  13. Amity Me says:

very nice, am learning so many personal things from your posts…:)

you’re asking for SOS which you can use for your kids?

well for me when my kids were young, i buy lots of coloring books and let them color them anyway they want. this is good visual exercise and color recognition plus they will develop their muscle control over the handling of crayons…:)

    they will love that Shrads!!!

  14. Jim says:

Hi Shrads, you said that you already had snow! Wow, it is pretty. But I don’t want to be there. I lost my snow shovels, one in Nebraska and the other in New Hampshire.
I might need one of those Fisher Price Handy Manny shop for KP to play with. And I should get a nursery rhyme book for Mama Karen. She can’t have my old one, it is antique.

Sorry to hear you were all sick. Somehow I have missed your blog lately but I’m so happy to find you again. Be back soon!

  17. carma says:

Have you tried setting up an indoor obstacle course – involving the trampolines as well?

What about cooking something special with the girls?

  18. I LOVE your first monochrome submission! It is so pretty, which I didn’t think I would EVER say about snow!! :-)
Snow is something I do not miss about New England – we are really happy to be living in Florida now.
Thanks for stopping by my blog, have a wonderful week and I hope your daughter feels much better soon.

  21. Snowed in already! I am not looking forward to snow. My boys love trampolines. The minis seem like a good idea for a Christmas gift!

  22. michael says:

Snow is lovely to photograph and your backyard with a first snow looks very nice – but: I’m not ready for the white stuff yet. Maybe for a week or two in January. Hope the kids enjoy it.
