Not acceptable

As an overweight person all my life, i have tried to lose weight all my life.
Never succeeded.
No body can ever say that i have an eating disorder of any form too.

I can not join the so ‘in’…’i am fat, so what’…bandwagon too!

I would love, love, love to lose some weight!!

But my DS radar gets awakened again with Kate Moss’s recent comments.

“Nothing tastes as good as being skinny feels”

It riles me.
It angers me a LOT infact.
No matter how tired she was.No matter how much out of context it can be taken. It was a wrong statement.
We should not support pro anorexia effort in any way.
Its truly tragic that celebrities can be so careless in what they speak.

As a mom of 2 very pretty girls who are very skinny children.I would never want them trapped in these kind of problems.

Kate Moss, you should apologize.

Being thin has always been my obsession since i started to gain weight about 7 years ago. and all efforts of trimming down or losing weight were inutil. then came this blogging where i spend lesser time for eating and sleeping and suddenly i was losing weight but not much. however, i like my image now in the mirror more than before.

my kids too are very skinny. i worry to much how they could be skinny when they eat a lot and properly?

kate moss is insensitive really! not good role for the youth! she should apologize!

good morning dear, you’re up so early i guess!

  2. EcoMeg says:

I completely agree. An irresponsible statement.

  3. carma says:

I heard that quote the other day and was a little shocked. I like food too much to eat nothing, which is probably what she does all day – plus there is a good change she is also using other substances to stay thin.

  4. Amy says:

It was always easy for me to stay thin because of genetics – that is, until I had my son. Man, that baby weight just doesn’t wanna leave! It has been over a year and I haven’t lost all the weight. Actually, I did lose it and then I gained it back. But, I’m going to keep saying it is baby weight. It sounds better than “I got depressed and ate chocolate bars and ice cream with whipped cream every day for the last month and a half.” Oops.

  5. Amy says:

I saw this too. I did not like it either. I think the wrong message was being sent for sure.

  6. Theta Mom says:

Especially in a society that makes it challenging for young women to love their body, this kind of statement fosters an obsession and it needs to STOP!!!

  7. I’m totally with you. An irresponsible statement.

  8. Kimberly says:

I want to go back to when curvy was beautiful! I still think it is, but the media doesn’t like my “type”. Oh well, it’s about what is on the inside!

  9. SandyCarlson says:

Wouldn’t it be great if the celebs suggested we love ourselves as we are? I guess they wouldn’t think of it necessarily. So many of them are always grasping.

  10. blueviolet says:

I wish I could see hope for change, but to be honest, I don’t. It makes me sad. :(

  11. Pam says:

I didn’t hear this, but it is the wrong message to send!

  12. Titaxy says:

oh that’s so not the right thing to say…what image is she portraying to young adults then?…not good.

  13. Shruthi says:

They never realise the kind of responsibility they have towards our society. and Celebs and their size zero obsession seem endless. its kinda getting on my nerves these days. we have a desi version of Kate Moss. Kareena kapoor. she looks diseased actually.

  14. Jeeves says:

Cannnt agree more!!!Grr! This skinny attitude….I like fat and healthy

  15. UmaS says:

Oh !!! Anorexia is just too much…how can unhealthy thinness be considered the height of fashion ?????

  16. Geraldine says:

This is a very important post Shraddha. Celebs wield so much influence, especially with younger people. I agree, this was a foolhardy comment for this actress to make.

I was on the border of having an eating disorder in my 20′s. Im 5’9″ and was down to 122 lbs. with an 18″ waist!!!! I still thought I had a fat ASS at the time and was incredulous when store clerks would hand me a size 5 tall pair of jeans to try on (they fit!)approx. the same as your US size 2. I was catching one cold after another and lived on coffee and mandarin oranges. And i was (or so I thought) in love with a very slim tall man. What a silly girl I think, looking back at all this. But I can soooo understand how young women get sucked into this diet insanity.

Im emailing you later today Shraddha, so check out you gmail when you can. Hugs, G

It’s sad that celebrities don’t watch what they say. It influences so many people. Her statement is so insensitive.
