Crowdsourcing

I  have been studying crowdsourcing for last few days.

What is crowdsourcing?

It is basically a mass collaboration of individuals to achieve a goal instead of traditionally being done by employees.

For example

Wikipedia is created by a mass collaboration and is a great example.

There has been lot of crowd sourcing in graphic designing industry.

I Stock photos is a great example.

Why it interests me?

It interests me because not only business is able to attract traffic , they are also able to make the ‘crowd’ contribute positively and creatively to projects. How great is that!

Considering that my inclination has always been to make this a group blog, that is kinda my aim too.

Getting traffic has been fairly easy by participating in popular memes but now how to make people interested in authoring/guest posts on this blog?

Here is what I will be doing

1. Request them individually case by case

2. Blog about it( like now) so that everyone knows of my interest.

3.Stating at the end of my blog posts. As it shows up on my ‘about author’ place at the end of each post.

4.Through twitter and probably facebook too( yawn!)

5.Have Contests nah! we know that has to be too huge a contest for other people to blog about it!

6. What do you say dear reader? Are you interested.

If yes, would you like it to be a guest post format like Kathy’s post. Here she sent me the article by email and I posted it.

Or

Let me send you authoring rights and show up as Sarawathan Ji’s Post. Here at the end of post , ‘about author’ shows up your blog’s address and your own brief introduction. You can post once or multiple times as per your interest.

Please let me know.

I love wikipedia and wiki dictionary etc. I participate on a number of other group blogs and would be happy to participate in this one as well. I just need to get started. I am not quite sure how to go about it.

One of the blogs I am on has a weekly contest for art and another for writing, and also a monthly contest, and I do think that generates interest, but it also creates a problem–someone has to judge entries. But I have an idea how that could be done. There could be a revolving committee of the last 4 winners (in each category). IF you wanted to do it–could be self-love advice, creative poetry, art, photography, whatever. No prize needed, just an announcement that everyone’s work and ideas were GREAT and that this week the committee selected X (so and so). The first 4 contests in each category would have to be judged in part by volunteers or soemthing until there were four winners. OR it coudl be simpler–JUST the ONE winner from last time coudl pick the next winner.

There could be a wiki of self-love techniques and ideas. I guess that’s sort of what the whole site is. But an index?
