Amity’s Blog Makeover

*Developing Self Love by spreading happiness and helping a friend*

A quick hello to everyone!

I might not be visiting any blogs or writing any blog posts but I have been having FUN in the blogosphere.

Amity very kindly gave me the administrative rights for her blog.
I changed the template with a premade free template by Themecraft, orginally designed for wordpress by ezwpthemes
Its magnificent!
I love it!
Hopefully Amity loves it as much as i do.
Do visit Dreams are my reality by Amity Me and leave your kind encouraging comments!

Things that i did:

1.Burnt the feed to feed burner hence the coolest( yes coolest) subscribing icon on left works!!!
2.Added Meta Tags :
Now I know why Carma Sez was saying the meta tags made through submit express don’t work on new blogspot templates..
Here is what needs to be done:
Look for this html in layout section

<head>

<b:include data=’blog’ name=’all-head-content’/>

Found it?

Good!

Now Add

<meta content=’WRITE DESCRIPTION HERE’ name=’description’/>

<meta content=’WRITE KEYWORDS SEPARATED BY COMMAS’ name=’keywords’/>

<meta content=’YOUR NAME’ name=’author’/>

You can also add, if you wish

<meta content=’INDEX,NOFOLLOW’ name=’Robots’/>

And then you will see following html already there!

<title><data:blog.pageTitle/></title>

All Done!!

Hope this helps!You are welcome to email me if any problems!

3. Decluttered her Sidebar ( that she used to love but i hated…so i surprised her and did not tell her before of my evil intentions !! :) ) and added pages on to her blog.

So it has

About Me (which links to her blogger profile)

Blogroll( Which i had to recreate through comments section, hope i did not miss too many people..if she is mad about losing her older blogroll, she has not shown it yet!! :) )

Edit: She made me put it on her right side bar…..boo hoo hoo….no no no no!!!

Awards ( this page decluttered her side bars the most )

4. The template had a problem where right bar did not have the ‘add a gadget‘ provision

Also recent posts and recent comments widget were locked and were not looking good.

So i removed the following html

<ul>

<li class=’recent_posts’> <b:section class=’sidebar2′ id=’sidebar2′ preferred=’yes’ showaddelement=’no’>

<b:widget id=’HTML97′ locked=’true’ title=’Recent Posts’ type=’HTML’/>

</b:section> </li> <li class=’recent_comments’>

<b:section class=’sidebar3′ id=’sidebar3′ preferred=’yes’ showaddelement=’no’>

<b:widget id=’HTML98′ locked=’true’ title=’Recent Comments’ type=’HTML’/>

</b:section>

</li>

</ul>

And instead added following html

<ul>

<b:section class=’sidebar4′ id=’sidebar4′ preferred=’yes’>

<b:widget id=’Followers1′ locked=’false’ title=’Followers’ type=’Followers’/>

</b:section>

</ul>

Adding these few words added ‘add a gadget‘ feature on right hand bar too!

5. I changed the background color of flag counter and do not copy copyscape widget to suit the blog template!

I tried adding the really cool ‘Blogumus’ 3D tag cloud to her side bar but was not successful and i got distracted by my own needs!End result: i added the widget on my blog!!! LOL!

That is all folks! I am absolutely thrilled with how her blog looks now!

I read on codex wordpress: ‘CODE IS POETRY’ : I have to agree!

And yes, i am still on bloggy leave! If i can really shut up, you should ideally see me not before second or third week of Feb! But i guess you know by now, such declarations by me have never worked!:)

Happy New Year to all!!!

Enjoy!!

    I still keep getting this error: “Your template could not be parsed as it is not well-formed. Please make sure all XML elements are closed properly.
    XML error message: Open quote is expected for attribute “{1}” associated with an element type “content”.

    Any suggestions??? You are much more well versed in this than I :-)

    Continue to enjoy your hiatus!

    I like this, Shrads. You are soooooo brave! For sure all my old posts would be lost. I sort of like them.
    Will you have time for OSI this week?

    Thanks for peeking in on me and sharing.
    I had longer hair and rode a motorcycle when Mrs. Jim and I met. I parked it when Karen was born. Now I think I should have another one. :-)

    I am curious what for sure the line,
    “” has for a purpose.
    The best I can figure out is for the Web site rating services to not look to the lessor pages but only the home page or the one with this tag.
    Is that anywhere close? It might do more than that but what?
    ..

  10. Jim says:

    was the line. I put quotes on it and only the quotes showed up.
    In case nothing shows up this time, the subject is meta content index, nofollow and name = robots.
    .. :-)

    I am kinda the proudest of your blogging friends…:)

    I hope more will come follow my blog as you did made a double treat by posting a commercial of it in your blog…*wink…wink*…:)

    I am grinning from ear to ear like the happiest of creature in the blogosphere…:)

    Now, Jim made me smile of his comment in my wanderlust post when he said, seems like we’re into a template business…ha ha ha…if Jim should only know that we’re like a conjoined twins happy doing blogging…:) since our first encounter at the Lounge…:)

    Before this innovation you made on my template, I was contemplating of stopping to blog, but Leo started feeling mad at me if I ever stop blogging…:)…:P

    And then I saw this new template of mine that you made, Oh no! My spirit soared into an uncontrollable wanderlust…:)

    So I will continue blogging, whatever the cost…never mind for friends who don’t understand what I love to do..:) I pray that in the end, they can equally share the happiness it gives me through blogging…:)

    Shrads, this kilometric comment now seems to bore you, but pls understand…:)

    Blogging buddies, take my word, Shraddha could make your template so beautiful like mine…:)

    Dear Poet,
    If you are receiving this announcement, it means that at one time or another you linked an acrostic poem at Acrostic Only. We are in the process of preparing for our first Acrostic Only Anthology – Volume I. If you care to be a part of this wonderful project, please visit our Blog for more information.

    We will be choosing poems to be considered for the Anthology from January – March, 2010. However, if you desire to have some of your work considered, there are a couple of deadlines you will have to meet, and you must email me your intentions to acrosticonly@gmail.com!

    I thank you all for supporting Acrostic Only, and I look forward to another year poetic interaction.
